My Story
I started volunteering in 2019, assisting in puppy classes, and soon became fascinated by the world of dog training. Sooner after, I started studying and being mentored to become a dog trainer myself. Then when we brought River (our Golden Retriever) home I became *slightly* obsessed with canine nutrition and providing her the best treats, food, and supplements to support her health and longevity. I got my head down into all the books, research studies and courses I could find and Chewing with River was born.
Having now been in this industry for over 5 years as a certified dog trainer and nutrition consultant, I have worked with 1000+ dogs and supported countless families to raise a dog that is happier, healthier, and can be enjoyed by all family members. I take an empathetic and results-driven approach to help you achieve the training & health goals that most matter to you and your dog.
I have studied with The Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, The British College for Canine Studies, The Dog Training College, and The International School for Canine Psychology, as well as completing regular Continuous Professional Development (CPD) with other organisations, trainers, and membership groups. I am also a Human and Canine First Aider, as well as a Mental Health First Aider - creating a safe space for all my human and canine clients alike. I am constantly learning and invest heavily on both training and nutrition CPD to ensure my skills, techniques, and knowledge remain up-to-date with the latest research and recommendations.
I am privileged to often be invited by other dog professionals to deliver training courses for them and their clients, and have delivered multiple courses on the topics of Reactivity, Nutrition, and Mental Health. I have trained and supported daycares, groomers, trainers and behaviourists, dog walkers, pet sitters and product-based pet businesses, and have also been a guest on several industry-leading podcasts sharing my passion for nutrition, behavioural work, and raising the ethical standards in the pet industry.
